Lavender Heights Bed and Breakfast Welcomes You to Fredericksburg, Virginia

Our home and gardens offer a restful escape from your busy world as you enjoy the area’s remarkable history and attractions.  Enjoy a luxurious, relaxing experience on the heights of the Rappahannock River overlooking Fredericksburg.  We are located in the historic village of Falmouth and situated on Stafford Heights between the historic 18th century Belmont estate that was the home and studio of the artist Gari Melchers; and Chatham Manor, a National Park site where President Lincoln visited Union troops during the Civil War.  We are five minutes from Old Town Fredericksburg, the University of Mary Washington and many attractions in the area.

Our two-story home is a welcome change from typical hotel lodging choices and was originally constructed in the 1880s then renovated and expanded in 2000.  We offer two elegant guest rooms and two guest suites, each with a private bath.  Our accommodations are exquisitely appointed to surround you in luxury and exceptional quality during your stay.   The home is appointed with a combination of 19th and early 20th century family antiques tastefully surrounded by present-day furniture, art and decor from around the world.

A full, delicious breakfast will start your day of exploring, wandering or gathering.  We hope you will stroll through the gardens with the song birds, enjoy a beverage by the koi pond or venture into the woods for a refreshing experience as you begin or end your day.  After you return from dinner, relax on the deck watching the lights twinkle in distant Fredericksburg as the frogs and crickets serenade.  Or if you prefer, curl up with a book by the gas-log fireplace in the living room or visit with friends.

We strive to provide you with a warm and inviting getaway to relax during your romantic escape; visit to Mary Washington University; outdoor adventure; business trip; or musings around the Fredericksburg area.  We offer free, off-street parking; free wireless Internet throughout the home; and HD television in each guestroom along with specials and packages to enhance your experience.  Tell us what you would like and we’ll make every attempt to make your stay special with our concierge service.

Innkeeper’s Corner:
Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Stafford, King George and Spotsylvania Counties, provide a wonderful destination for your getaway with myriad things to do, whether you choose to visit historic Civil War sites during its sesquicentennial commemoration on a self-guided tour, or take a Trolley or horse-drawn carriage tour through Fredericksburg and imagine Union and Confederate soldiers exchanging volleys in the Battle of Fredericksburg.

We would be happy to help you plan your stay in the area, whether you want to visit a winery, distillery or brewery–or all of them on the Grapes and Grains Trail!  We are a-buzz with museums, boutique shops, art galleries, a dinner theater, parks, farmers’ markets and wonderful restaurants.

Maybe you are looking for an outdoor adventure on the Rappahannock by canoe, kayak or ‘tube; or perhaps rock climbing, fly fishing, hiking or bicycling.  Is golf your passion?  Try one of the area’s six courses within 20 minutes’ drive (yes, mini-golf counts!).

We can really say “Washington…or Jefferson…or Monroe…slept here (Fredericksburg and Stafford, that is)!”  Visit the Rising Sun Tavern, Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop, Kenmore Plantation, Ferry Farm or the Mary Washington House to immerse you in the life and times of the 1700s.  Of course, we have ghosts and phantoms (did we mention the cemetery at Lavender Heights??) throughout the area, like the Aquia Episcopal Church and buildings in Old Town Fredericksburg.

Don’t forget to explore the University of Mary Washington activities with your student throughout the year!

We look forward to hosting you and creating an enjoyable experience at Lavender Heights Bed and Breakfast.
