Happy Presidents Day! The best part about Fredericksburg is that it is The Most Historic City in the U.S. and what better way to celebrate the day than walking the Presidents walk! Beginning with our first President and just minutes away and upriver from Lavender Heights is Ferry Farm, the childhood home of George Washington. He and his family moved there in 1738 when young George was just 6 years old. The farm got its name because ferries would bring folks to the farm from the shores of the Rappahannock River and deliver them to downtown Fredericksburg for shopping and business excursions. Now that is what being close to history is about. However, if old is not your thing and you’re more about the present day, we are just an hour from Washington, DC, and the marvelous places our present-day Presidents have lived and called home. Whatever your choice, enjoy the day and embrace our history!
