Happy Thanksgiving

November is here and Thanksgiving is upon us. Our weather has been beautiful and the leaves in the area are hanging on and still quite lovely. Since we haven’t had a true hard frost it has been wonderful to experience the falling leaves and changing colors a little longer than we normally would. We hope you have found time to come and visit Fredericksburg this month. If you haven’t there are loads of enjoyable things to do before we turn our attention to December and the upcoming holiday festivities.

Here in Fredericksburg we are blessed to be surrounded by so many members of the military and installations. With that said, we happily celebrated the 240th birthday of The United States Marine Corps on the 10th with a dinner and traditional cake cutting at Fredericksburgs’ own Poppy Hill Tuscan Restaurant. Poppy Hill was recently named to the list of “Top 10 Farm to Table Restaurant’s in the USA” by Bon Appe’tits and Gourmet’s Epicurious. Located at 1000 Charles St., Poppy Hill offers Tuscan fare with a hint of Californian flare. We hope you will stop in to dine with them on your next visit. Their website is http://www.ciaopoppyhill.com. If you would like to learn more about the history of the Marines we are located just 30 minutes from Marine Base Quantico and The National Museum of the Marine Corps. Their website is http://www.usmcmuseum.com.

This next little bit is for all of you who love a good riddle and prizes. Downtown Fredericksburg merchants are participating in Winter Wonderland (November 14-Dec 31). Not only will the windows of their stores be beautifully decorated for you to enjoy but there will be a Christmas riddle that needs solved too. An example might be…”Ask me a question and I will have an answer”….It is of course the Magic 8 Ball toy that knows the answer to everything. Fun right? Grand prizes for answering all the riddles range from $200-1000. Furthermore, there are Elfie Selfie opportunities that might garnish you a $100 Experience Fredericksburg Gift Card. To get all the details visit http://www.VisitFred.com.

We are so very thankful to share our little piece of the world with anyone that comes this way. Whether an intimate dinner, fun with family, learning about history or just a quiet walk to enjoy the colors of the season, we hope Fredericksburg is a place you will want to keep visiting. Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels from all of us at Lavender Heights.
