The Heart Of Summer and the 4th of July in Fredericksburg

What better way to begin the heart of summer than with the festivities offered here in Fredericksburg! Did you know that young George Washington grew up in Stafford County at the beautiful Ferry Farm minutes from here? Activities will be held all day long from 10 am to 5 pm on the fourth. If you love history this is the place to be! You will be able to see firsthand how George Washington lived as a boy, games that were played, chores that were done, how things were built and yes, even how the laundry was done. If something a little more “modern” is what you are looking for; Fredericksburg and Stafford County will celebrate its annual Heritage Festival with a five-mile run kicking things off at 7:45 the morning of the fourth. That will be followed up with the Festival of the Streets, this will include over 100 crafts and vendors, a Classic Car Display, activities and music near Riverfront Park and did we mention lotsa wonderful food. Plus, shopping and dining throughout the city to match anyone’s choices for fun and food.
One last quick idea for some fun this holiday weekend…if you love country music then you will want to check out Celebrate Virginia After Hours. This Friday, July 1st, country newcomers Tyler Farr and Frankie Ballard will be in concert. If you are interested just go to for ticket information.
Oh goodness we almost forgot the best part of the Fourth of July Celebration here…The Fireworks!!!!
Pratt Park located at 120 River Road, a quick drive or casual walk from Fredericksburg will be hosting the finale of family fun and fireworks from 4:40-9:30 p.m. Admittance is free and the views spectacular. Visit for information.
