In the hustle and bustle world we live in how often do we ever really, “Stop and Smell the Flowers”? Probably not often enough for many of us, so perhaps it is time for a remedy! Here at Lavender Heights we have lavender surrounding the house and gardens but there is an adventure not so far from here awaiting visitors and guests alike that would be a true Lavender Heights experience.
Just 30 minutes away in the small town of Catlett, Virginia in Fauquier County is the Seven Oaks Lavender Farm. This quaint family farm nestled by the Shenandoah Mountains and skyline drive is the perfect place to visit. While harvesting season has come to an end the gift shop remains open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends. Lavender is actually a member of the mint family and its color and gentle hues give beauty to any garden. The oil lavender produces is of course found in many bath and beauty products as well as its old fashioned medicinal uses and don’t be surprised when you find it being used in the kitchen. If you are looking for a refreshing twist to lemonade, infuse it with lavender…it will recharge, revive and rejuvenate you on any hot summer day. If you would like to plan a visit and learn more about lavender information can be found on the web at www.sevenoakslavenderfarm.com.
