Well it certainly has been a warm one here in Virginia this summer and we are excited to be letting it go. The cool crisp air of fall will hopefully arrive right on time with kids going back to school and the changing of the calendar. There are always things to do in and around Fredericksburg, but this time of year just seems more delightful when one can enjoy the outdoors. Here are just a few ideas to shake the summer blahs off and welcome the enchantments of fall:
*Enjoy a walk along the Rappahannock River and watch the leaves as they gently glide and swirl from seemingly out of nowhere to enjoy a little float down river.
*Delight in a little bird watching as everything from Ruby Throated Hummingbirds to Canadian Geese head for their winter homes.
*Grab a bite to eat at any of the wonderful restaurant’s that have outdoor seating and enjoy the smells, flavors and beauty of Old Town Fredericksburg.
*Check out the history that surrounds the Fredericksburg area: Mary Washington University, The various battle fields and cemeteries’, Chatham Manor and of course historic Old Town.
*If you are more of a traditionalist there are plenty of wineries nearby to visit, golf courses to play on and let us not forget the shopping experiences too numerous to mention.
Hopefully reading this will make you curious to explore. Get outside and enjoy the splendor of the changing colors, aromas that waif through the air and the essence of the season. Whatever your choice may be, embrace fall and discover all that there is here in our wonderful home town. We hope to see you soon.
