October has arrived and we are so excited. This month brings so many changes to the Fredericksburg area. The leaves will be slowly showing their festive colors, the smell of fire pits burning will entice us to make S’mores and drink something warm, pumpkin and spiced everything is the kitchen being baked and the temperature finally dips down to comfortable. Outdoor activities are too plentiful to miss. Apple picking, wine tasting and of course waiting on the Great Pumpkin and Halloween
We have many pumpkin patches here in the area and they offer not just “great” pumpkins to choose from but hayrides, pumpkin picking, corn mazes, delicious foods and shopping. To learn more or to plan a visit while here in Fredericksburg check out Belvedere Plantation at www.belvedereplantation.com,
Braehead Farm at www.braeheadfarm.com or Sneads Farm at www.snedsfarm.com. I don’t think the Great Pumpkin or Linus would miss visiting any of these patches for some fall fun.
We mentioned shopping…Fredericksburg has many wonderful places to shop in Old Town but if you really want to experience fall and get into the “spirit” of the seasons, have we got the place for you. On October 15 and 16th at the Fredericksburg Expo Center will be a wonderful event known as the Fall Home and Craft Festival. Vendors show off their amazing hand made items which includes crafts, art work, clothing, unique gift items and some seriously delicious food treats. Everything from Amish baked goods to hot sauce to well..It is a must if you are in the area or hungry! Check out more info at http://www.fredericksburghomeshow.com
Do you like scary things… ghost stories and things that go creek in the night? Well..Would you believe we have a few interesting places that are said to be haunted here in the Burg. If you would like to visit some of the more well-known places include: Chatham Manor, Virginia Hall on the grounds of the University of Mary Washington, Fall Hill Plantation and our favorite Sunken Road by the Fredericksburg Cemetery. It’s all about the paranormal and to learn more or find a Ghost walk check out www.visitfred.com
Whatever you may choose to do we hope you will make Fredericksburg a part of your plans. We look forward to seeing you and wish you safe travels, a very happy fall season and of course a visit from the Great Pumpkin.
